About
About Us…
Sara and I met in the year 2000 and quickly found that we had much in common and that many aspects of our personalities complemented each other. We shared a passion for travel. Not just the kind of love that is so common these days: the kind that is strong in the beginning, but fades over time. But the kind that is life altering, never get enough, never feel satisfied kind of passion.
We each came in to our relationship with life goals regarding travel, some were specific goals, see all seven continents, all fifty states and several specific destinations, and some were general, never quit traveling, never let a lack of money stop us from an experience and infect our children with the same amount of passion to get out and see the world.
Together and separately, Sara and I have been on some amazing journeys. We have accomplished some of our goals, but the world is a big place and there are so many, many more to go. We have barely even scratched the surface.
Sara is a photographer and amateur artist, while I am a writer and amateur historian. Sara is a detail planner, while I am one who likes to show up and see what happens. We have found that we work well together and seem to have a good time along the way.
About this website…
The truth of the matter is that we forget things over time. We all do it and Sara and I are no different. We have had such incredible times together on various adventures, but we felt that the details were slipping away from us. We wanted to write them down, but at the same time show others what is out there and encourage people experience the world.
Sara and I tend to travel, well, to be frank, on the cheap. We try not to let cost get in the way of a good time, so we spend our money on the important parts of travel (eg. On certain attractions or exhibits that one must see when one has traveled halfway around the world) and save money in the less important areas (eg. Accommodations and travel modes). We (and when I say we, I mean Sara) have come up with dozens, if not hundreds of unique and not so unique ways to save money and make travel affordable, fun and maybe even a little more adventurous. For example, did you know that you can stay at a certain place in Rome, just a block or two away from the Spanish Steps for about the same price as a Motel 6 here in the states? Not a hotel, but you will have your own room and bathroom and will get a much more authentic feel for Roman culture.
Our goal for this site is to share our experiences, but also to encourage and to nurture a love of travel amongst as many people as possible. We want to show that if you want to make travel a part of your life, it is possible, you just need to educate yourself on the many ways to go about it. Some are conventional and some are not. Some might be for you and some may not, but you can open your mind up to the many possibilities and the many destinations that await.

Oh, and I just became a fan on FB. We like to travel cheap too and I was VERY excited to hear about your $3000 budget! My daughter and I got our tickets (flights from Texas) for a mere $630 apiece! Not including airfare, figuring we’ll spend (hoping) less than $2500.
